BA’KELALAN HIGHLANDS
Ba’Kelalan is located in Lawas District; it is a Lun Bawang tribe village located in the northeast highlands of Sarawak. Bird watchers and photographers from around the world come here to see the elusive bird called the Dulit Frogmouth (Batrachostomus harterti). Other species commonly seen here include Black and Crimson Oriole, Hose’s Broadbill, Bornean Bulbul, Bornean Barbet, Whitehead’s Spiderhunter, Mountain Serpent Eagle and some mammals such as Tufted Ground Squirrel and Bornean Black-Banded Squirrels.

DAY 01
• Pick up from Kota Kinabalu. Travel for 3-4 hours to Lawas and stop for lunch. Travel for 2-3 hours on gravel road to Merarap. Late afternoon birding around Merarap. Enjoy soaking in hot spring pool. After dinner, overnight at Merarap Lodge.

DAY 02
• Wake up call at 5am. Birding around Merarap. After breakfast, travel for 4-5 hours on dirt and gravel road to Ba’Kelalan. Check in to a Homestay and enjoy late lunch. Late afternoon birding around Ba’Kelalan. After dinner, overnight at Ba’Kelalan Homestay.

DAY 03
• Wake up call at 4am. Birding around Ba’Kelalan. After breakfast, free at leisure. After lunch, birding in the late afternoon around Ba’Kelalan. After dinner, overnight at Ba’Kelalan Homestay.

LAST DAY
• Wake up call at 4am. Birding around Ba’Kelalan. After breakfast, travel for 6-7 hours on dirt and gravel road to Lawas. After late lunch, travel for another 3-4 hours to reach Kota Kinabalu.
